Blood Bank of Hawaii Update
28 February 2012
Comment

I hope this finds you well! It’s been a year since Blood Bank of Hawaii (BBH) had the great pleasure of participating in Honolulu Twestival 2011 as its lead beneficiary. Thank you again for providing us the wonderful opportunity to partner with Twestival to heighten awareness about the importance of blood donation, stimulate interest among the next generation of donors and increase first-time donor participation.

Over the past year, Twestival funds have enabled BBH to make important strides in its educational and marketing efforts. We are pleased to update you on our progress.

Reaching the next generation
In fall 2011, we contacted a group of young people to help BBH reach the next generation of donors. Twestival funds enabled a professional photo session that produced great images and “talk story” video clips of these donors for our photo library. A well-received cover story in the February 2012 issue of our company newsletter, Circulate, features two of these photos (please see here). Our young donor models will also grace posters for the new Young Street Donor Center, opening April 10, and other collateral materials.

Website Upgrade
A timely follow up to our successful partnerships with these young donors is our website upgrade project. When complete, the website will improve visitor navigation, provide real-time online booking capabilities for whole blood and apheresis donors, and include a digital media library and useful educational tools that viewers may access. The video clips and collateral materials will be among these tools, designed to reach and better educate all ages of donors.

We greatly appreciate Honolulu Twestival’s support in helping BBH maximize its investment in donor education to Hawaii’s community in 2011. We are confident the generous gift made possible by Twestival will increase awareness about blood donation and positively impact how young people choose to make a difference in the lives of Hawaii’s patients.

We extend another big mahalo to you for your and Twestival’s support. We will be sure to keep you apprised of our continued successes throughout the year!

Aloha,

Laurie
